As college students, we are constantly faced with many new and overwhelming things. Being able to remember and visualize a point in life where we were seemingly just starting out and as our purest selves can help us see that we have already grown so much regardless of how scared we are to tackle the future. This can also be a reminder of who we are as we try to figure out where we fit in the world.
The inspiration for this shoot was to encourage the USC community to remember our childhoods—when life felt simpler—so we can look back and see how far we have come and how much we have grown. For this shoot, models were asked to bring items of significance from their childhoods that had meaning to them. You can see that the teddy bears are well-loved, and the old childhood photos and dance trophies are indicative of how much that point in life mattered to them. The fact that these items were kept after so long speaks to this formative point in life as well. Older models were asked to participate in the shoot to reinforce the idea that no matter our age, we are always able to look back and see just how far we've come, and that we can keep going.
