Generation Z holds a great responsibility for change as there is more opportunity than ever. We are all modes for change if we have passion, and this is the generation to change society and its norms. Thus, we must remember that we have the power to make a difference, big or small. The purpose of this shoot is to show how a generation with passion can overcome structure. The shoot takes place in front of Columbia State House, a historical landmark of the US government. The models stand within the grounds of the government with powerful stances and colorful clothes, showing their light amongst a higher power. Their props look into their passions and individuality, which they can holster and develop into something greater.

In order to enact change within society, we must find our motivations and follow our passions. For models TJ Johnson and Katie Noris, these passions are very diverse. Johnson is passionate about family, school and the bass guitar. He explains that recently he’s been more aware of the importance of relationships in his life. In terms of music, he’s performing gigs and sees himself growing with this passion in the future. On the other hand, Noris loves dancing. Improving and spending time in the studio is where she finds meaning.

Being an agent of change can take different forms. Johnson believes that everyone has meaning and can make an impact. It’s just a matter of finding what’s meaningful to you and using this as guidance. Noris explains that she supports change in general, no matter the cause. It’s easy to feel discouraged but if everyone engages in small acts of kindness, we can build towards something greater.

Looking towards the future of our generation, Johnson recognizes that this generation already has a bright outlook due to our support for diversity. “There’s more opportunity than ever,” Johnson said.

“Now more than ever, people feel like they have a voice,” Johnson said. “There’s more hope, it’s easier to dream.”

In the future, Noris would like to see “a lot of open-mindedness and openness to new ideas and all types of opinions and points of view, especially as our generation gets into higher-up roles.” It is crucial for us to continue to encourage individuality, advocacy, openness and acceptance. The opportunity is here and now.

At the end of the day, we are all people experiencing life for the first time, but we should walk away knowing that we contributed something meaningful. Utilize today's opportunity to find passion. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, and meet and learn from everyone you can. Such factors can encourage diversity and diversity of thought. Diversity combined with passion is the best facilitator for change within the system and around the world.
