Four Ways to Get Yourself Out of Bed in the Morning

I get it you guys, 8:30am rolls around way too quickly when you’ve spent your Thursday feelin’ thirsty, but here are some sure-fire ways to get your butt out of bed, to class and into an uncomfortable desk—okay, or maybe just sleep in…

1. Get an actual alarm clock. It is so tempting to just set your alarm on your phone, but the new snooze feature on iOs 7 is far too easy. ‘Tap here to snooze…’ OH, OKAY! Thanks iPhone for single-handedly sabotaging my morning. Not to mention that you can turn off your alarms with a simple swipe. Using your phone as an alarm is like begging to sleep through your class. You want to get out of bed? You’ve got to get a real alarm clock, put it far away from your bed, make the hike seven feet to turn it off and be on your merry way.

2. If you’re not going to listen to me and get a real alarm clock, set your alarm to an exceptionally annoying song. (This really only works if you set multiple alarms, one after the other in case you hit snooze.) Personally, ‘Cotton-Eyed Joe’ will get me every time, but my roommate has her’s set as the exceptionally catchy/annoying/why do we listen to it? ‘What Does The Fox Say?’

3. Maybe you’ve got nice roommates who have the same schedule as you who will wake you up? Or maybe they are just those people. You know, the ones that wake up in the morning actually feeling like P. Diddy. They grab their glasses, they’re out the door—Okay I’ll stop. My point is, if you’ve got a roommate that is a morning person that you can count on to make sure you’re awake, ask them nicely if they’ll help you out! If not, you know where they live…and this just took a creepy turn.

4. I’ve always considered having my mom or dad record themselves screaming for me to get out of bed. Nothing put the fear of God in me like my parents yelling at me that I overslept in high school, so why wouldn’t that work in college?

*These ways are probably not actually surefire for everyone…#womp.
